St John Ogilvie Shrine

The erection of the shrine to the Birthplace of Saint John Ogilvie took place in 2017 by permission of Bishop Hugh Gilbert OSB. It commemorates the local saint who was born in Keith, in Moray, Scotland and was martyred in Glasgow in 1615.

Exhibition Summary

Michael Collins, a journalist and editor of many years standing, put together this little exhibition in honour of Saint John Ogilvie, our local saint. his father Jim received communion from Pope Paul VI on the occasion of the canonisation of Saint John Ogilvie in Rome.

St John Ogilvie Centenary Mass

The weather opened that morning with a howling wind and horizontal rain. Despite this Bishop Hugh decided to go ahead, and just before the Mass the wind dropped and the sun came out.  A big thank-you to all the volunteers who gave many hours of their time.
